Today, we would like to introduce Sapporo Clock Tower, a famous tourist attraction in Sapporo!
Sapporo Clock Tower is a historical building located in the center of Sapporo City. It was built in 1878 as a demonstration hall for “Sapporo Agricultural College” (now Hokkaido University). It is equipped with Japan's oldest working tower clock, which has been ticking away the time accurately for over 130 years. This clock tower, with its white wooden exterior and red roof, blends beautifully into the streetscape of Sapporo.
The interior of the building is open to the public as a museum, where visitors can learn about the pioneering history of Sapporo and the clock tower.
On the second floor, a former demonstration hall has been recreated, allowing visitors to experience the life of students in those days.
Sapporo Clock Tower is only a 10-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station, and there are many tourist attractions such as Odori Park and the TV Tower in the vicinity.
This clock tower, which continues to be loved by many people as a symbol of Sapporo, is a place where visitors can enjoy sightseeing while feeling the history of the city.
