One day trip to Shikotuko-lake

Today, we would like to introduce a drive to Lake Shikotsu.
It is located quite close to Sapporo, and you can reach Lake Shikotsu in about an hour to the south.
I’ve heard that some of my friends even go there on their road bikes, so it’s a popular spot for a short drive among the residents of Sapporo.
On the way to Lake Shikotsu, there is a gelato shop that I highly recommend.
The shop is called Re di ROMA Plus.
They offer flavors that you can enjoy not only in the summer but also in early spring and late autumn.
My recommendation is pistachio. Please be sure to stop by on your way to Lake Shikotsu.
Another recommended place near Lake Shikotsu is the Eniwa Gorge.
In the summer, you can enjoy the lush greenery of the trees and the babbling of the river.
It's a place where you can feel the negative ions.
You can also enjoy the autumn foliage from mid-October to the end of the month.
The autumn in Sapporo can be enjoyed earlier than in the major metropolitan areas of Tokyo and Osaka.
Please do enjoy the slightly early autumn foliage viewing.
You can drive along about half of Lake Shikotsu, enjoying the lakeside by car.
It's a caldera lake believed to have been formed by volcanic activity approximately 40,000 years ago, with views of the surrounding volcanoes such as Mount Eniwa and Mount Fūshi.
If you have time, it's also recommended to enjoy activities like stand-up paddleboarding.
Lake Shikotsu is also close to Chitose and Eniwa, and it is recommended to make a detour on the way from Sapporo to New Chitose Airport.
