Today, I would like to introduce Shakotan, the perfect place for a summer road trip.

Have you ever heard of the term Shakotan blue?

The deep blue sea is called Shakotan blue and is one of the most attractive features of Hokkaido in summer.

It takes about 90 minutes to two hours from Sapporo through Otaru.
Shakotan can be reached in a short drive.
If you want to enjoy a whisky at the Yoichi on the way to Shakotan, hold back as you are driving.
It is recommended to head for the seafood bowls you can enjoy later.

The highlight of the Shakotan drive is Cape Kamui.
It is characterised by its brave appearance as it sharply pierces into the Sea of Japan. 'Kamui' means god in Ainu.
The weather is often windy, but if the weather is stable, you can walk along the promenade to the end of the cape.

Enjoy fresh seafood when you come to Shakotan.
You can find good sushi in Sapporo, but the seafood you eat while looking out at the sea is exceptional.

For the last stop in Shakotan, Shakotan-Misakino-Yu is recommended.

The open-air baths are open to the public and offer a panoramic view of the sea to relieve the fatigue of the drive.

It is my top recommendation.
